Announcing LEED Accreditation for FTLA Partners
FTLA partners Joan Floura R.L.A. and Aaron Teeter R.L.A. add LEED AP to their list of professional titles and underscore their commitment to leaner and cleaner design. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accreditation—better known as LEED AP—expands FTLA services to clients who target sustainable design both in buildings and on site. With a focus on long-term lifecycle savings at four levels (Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum), LEED certification addresses six vital elements of energy conservation, two of which—sustainable sites and water efficiency—apply directly to project landscapes. Favoring the Smart Growth route to land use, LEED landscapes emphasize wise reinvention of urban space, reduction of heat absorbing islands, wider use of native plant species, and walkable proximity to mass transit. At FTLA, sustainable design is nothing new, but we advance LEED certification as a way to peak environmental awareness and quantify the growing mandate for a more livable planet.
